SEASON FINALE – OCTOBER 10TH!!
Dubtribe
From 1990 to 2005 Dubtribe Sound System, husband and wife Sunshine and Moonbeam Jones, gathered friends and family together and traversed the planet performing house music live for millions of people.
Allied with sit in and bring along percussionists, poets, painters, singers, and other musicians including Ray Lee, Nicky Sick, Babatunde, Primo Navaro, Matthew Brubeck, Karen Pfister, Chadwick Justin Minor, Richard Henry Scott, Lumo, Spiral Formatt, DJ Collage, Toast, Raymond St. Martin, DJ Lapaix, Kevin Wilson, and many others along the way, Dubtribe brought the idea that anything is possible, and that anyone can rise up and create art, political protest, and personal expression in the environment of DJ culture, rave, and night club or warehouse with a few simple devices and fire in your heart.
They arrived at a time when the world was in turmoil, the rave was a new idea which empowered people to gather and dance. Few followed the example set by Dubtribe, but many people were inspired to find their own road.
Dubtribe Sound System performed their final live concert at Cielo, in New York City on December 1st 2005. Many friends and family were in attendance, it was the perfect ending to a wonderfully indepenent, situationist, and punk rock road far too few people choose to travel with the passion and love that Sunshine and Moonbeam have.
May the beach always appear before you as the most beautiful dance floor in the world. Open up your mind, open up your heart, open up your hands, open up your mouth, open up your life, and set your spirit free.

H-Foundation
The DJ/production duo from Chicago and San Diego respectively joined forces through their mutual admiration and passion for house music. One of their earliest productions, the seminal “Here Dis Sound”, on the respected San Diego based Siesta Recordings, has become the blueprint for much of the current wave of dub-influenced house music, a sound that has been picked up in the UK and Europe by scene stalwarts such as Pete Tong and Carl Cox. Both Halo & Hipp-e have also carved their own niches with solo productions, including Halo’s huge underground hit “My Sound” on Siesta and Hipp-e’s work with Tony (Tango Recordings) on labels such as Grayhound and Tango. Other producers from the West Coast scene to collaborate with Halo & Hipp-e include DJ Dan, Onionz, Master D, Terry Mullan and Angel Alanis. Collectively, this crop of producers have formed the 6400 crew for releases on Yoshitoshi, Electrik Soul, Shaboom & Siesta.Follow up EPs on Chicago’s Moody Recordings and Toronto’s Camouflage imprints have solidified the duo’s place at the top of the heap of new U.S producers. Most recently their sound has had a massive impact on U.K audiences, and labels such as Low Pressings (Peace Division), Soma, Shaboom and NRK have enlisted the production talents of Hipp-E & Halo for productions and remixes. NRK’s nite:life 02, a continuous DJ mix from Halo & Hipp-e, was an excellent introduction to those still new to the tech-house phenomenon, and to those in the know it was a fantastic collection of some of the most ground breaking and powerful house music sounds around, as mixed by two of the scene’s most charismatic and dedicated followers. The mix CD has since been cited as a major influence in the progressive/tribal/tech-house movement.

Hipp-E
A native of the golden west, Hipp-E has pushed the envelope of dance music from the tender age of 16.
After years of parties and inspiration from other DJ’s and Producers, Hipp-e decided it was time to try his hand at making music that better suit the left-coast of the United States. Teaming up with partner Halo, the two produced a hybrid sound that paired the jackin’ beats of Chicago with the smoked out sounds of the Pacific. Known as the H-Foundation and 644 Crew, they produced tracks for Siesta Music in their new home of San Diego, their new friends at Soma in Glasgow, label giant Hooj Choons, and even for the East coast legends at Yoshitoshi. As a result, they drew the attention to the self-contained music industry of the West coast.
The next phase of his skyrocketing career saw him able to take his sound to the world in the form of his legendary DJ sets. Playing slots at Fabric London, Turbo Toronto, Zouks Singapore, Soma Glasgow, Twilo New York, more Amsterdam Pacha Buenos Aires, and Allenby Tel-Aviv turned the heads of the clubbers who thought they had seen and heard it all. His sets at raves in New Zealand, Montreal, Turkey, Croatia, Spain, Brazil and all over the United States have reintroduced the concept that prime-time doesn’t mean prime-speeds and has the ravers listing for a change.
And even though one might wonder when he finds the time, Hipp-e has continued to push himself in the studio, developing a sound that belongs solely to him. His solo production for labels like NRK, Soma, Product Deluxe and Tango has garnered instant reaction from international DJ’s and has those more negative individuals that predicted some sort of Hipp-e / Halo backlash quickly zipping their lips. In addition to building his studio knowledge Hipp-e is venturing into more unknown territory. As A&R for San Francisco based Tango Recordings, he is able to take his knack for finding amazing records to play out and apply it to finding upcoming producers from around the world who will help to shape the future of dance music.
With a DJ schedule that shows no signs of slowing down, and a resume that already puts him at the top of his field, and an ever growing potential in the studio, Hipp-e will continue to realize his dreams and inspire the rest of the industry.

DJ Rouzbeh
Since 1997, DJ Rouzbeh began laying down the vinyl with one goal in mind, being able to work crowds to another state of mind. His passion for the sound and ability to remix tracks live led him to embark on the musical journey he has come to today. Rouzbeh’s ability to work the floor with creative sounds and effects sets him apart from the ‘average DJ’, and has led him to play alongside many world-class DJs. Taking one step further, he jumpstarted Back2Basics in 2000, and currently still manages enough time to be involved in event production. His talents – musical and business – have cemented his existence in the San Francisco house scene. If you have not had a chance to catch him at a LIVE performance, you are missing quite a show.

DJ Von
Von’s father started his record collection the day he was born, literally. He got his first turntable in 1990, but he could only afford one, so he was a turntablist by default. When he got his second turntable he was primarily a hip-hop dj, back when hip-hop was great. Back when it was hip-hop. As it began to turn sour in the late 90s he was turned onto house music. He was turned onto many different types of music at that time in his life, but deep, funky, soulful, weird House music was what he developed a passion for. He played nothing but house for about 5 years, but then it lost support and it became hard to find gigs as a “house dj”. So now He combines his life-long record collection, his skills as a turntablist, his trained ear as a house dj, and his passion for Jazz and Soul, and rocks parties as hard as he can.

Rooz has always been associated with San Francisco’s best DJs and promoters, so he has the credibility of his peers.

Paul Hemming
This true SF music visionary was not born, but instead he was forged from his Seattle hip-hop and rock roots to his bay area art and film school sensibilities. Paul has always walked a fine line with balance and focus. His electronic music compositions carry a strong conviction to detail along with the booming beats and synth melodies. In a word, his compositions represent “BASS”.New ideas, artistic visions and music insights spring forth from his otherwise centered body. As a label owner and DJ he is always set on pushing the sonic boundaries with little regret. In 2007 he launched the Zen Compound, home to Temple nightclub and Prana restaurant, an ambitious creative site grounded in his love for music, art, Eastern aesthetics and bringing the world together. Like similar large-scale Bay Area music projects (think Burning Man, and the City’s many festivals and street fairs), Temple nightclub and Temple Music Group (TMG) represent Hemming’s integrated artistic vision. His passions and experiences are incorporated throughout all his projects, such as including Asian sculpture in the nightclub space, or the recently released Prana music compilation, which features Eastern-tinged electronic compositions by Hemming and other TMG artists. Launching both the Nightclub and label simultaneously illustrates that Hemming has big plans for both his own artistic output and TMG’s growing roster.
Hemming’s many music productions span multiple genres from chunky disco grooves through richly melodic house music, solid breakbeak tunes and organic downtempo tracks. A lifelong music connoisseur, Hemming’s years of club, A&R and dance music retail experience is reflected in tracks that are cinematic, passionate and layered with colorful instrumentation. These features are also expressed in Temple, a multi-level, ecologically sustainable dance venue. With releases on several labels, and many to come on his own Temple Music Group imprint, Paul Hemming’s music will be banging out of club systems for some time.

DJ Thuy Vu embarked on her music journey with classical piano at the age of 9. From the age of 10, Thuy Vu has composed her own pieces and continues to do so today. She began to play at local clubs and kitschy bars in Southern California.
